At the session of the Committee for Finance, Republic Budget and Control of Public Assets Spent held outside National Assembly, at the premises of Republic Commission for Protection of Rights in Public Procurement Procedures on September 17th 2015, the members of the Committee were presented in detail the ways in which Republic Commission operates and procedures related to the case files and decision making of Republic Commission.
Committee President Veroljub Arsic, chairman of the session, pointed out that the session is being held outside of the premises of National Assembly and at the premises of Republic Commission, in order to enable members of the Committee to get to know all of the aspects of operating of Republic Commission directly.
President of Republic Commission Sasa Varinac, after he reminded those present on existing specific situation within Republic Commission – adopted amendments to the Public Procurement law changing the procedures of operations of Republic Commission, as well as the fact that he has submitted his resignation and that the open procedure for appointment of both new President and additional two members of Republic Commission is in process – also pointed out to the circumstances making difficult the operating of Republic Commission and decision making within prescribed deadlines.
Namely, since Republic Commission was founded in December 2003, until April 1st, 2013 (less than ten years) 6.487 requests for protection of rights have been received, whereas in the period between April 1st 2013 up till today (less than 2,5 years) 5.097 requests for protection of rights have been received. Members of the Committee for the Finance have been given the detailed explanation regarding the operating of Republic Commission, i.e. moving of the case file from the moment it is received by Republic Commission till the decision upon it has been made.
Committee members expressed their support and appreciation for Republic Commission with regards to implementation of its authorities, and also estimated that the work of Republic Commission is of great importance, both for the functioning of the state institutions and economy in general.
