Regarding information published in media related to my resignation, I would like to point out the following:
On June 22nd I have submitted my resignation from the position of the President of Republic Commission for Protection of Rights in Public Procurement Procedures. I have submitted the resignation to the Finance Committee of the National Assembly, as a competent organ to initiate the procedure for adoption of my resignation. National Assembly has not yet considered my resignation, but I expect that procedure to be conducted and completed very soon, as that is really necessary for Republic Commission to continue to function in its full capacity, with undisturbed expert and professional authority this institution has to have.
Pressures were not the reason for my resignation, although part of the public might be seeing it that way. Simply, professional effort was greater than my capability to face it and cope with it. Constant increase of number of submitted cases and tight deadlines for deciding upon public procurements that have often been rather complex and of great value made me feel I could not offer enough at this position and that for the institution I have been running and efficiency of the entire public procurement system in Republic of Serbia it is necessary to appoint new President of Republic Commission.
Sasa Varinac, President of Republic Commission for Protection of Rights in Public Procurement Procedures
